MANTRAS TO WIN OVER SELF-DOUBT
“Don’t let others tell you what you can’t do. Don’t let the limitations of others limit your vision. If you can remove your self-doubt and believe in yourself, you can achieve what you never thought possible.”
― Roy T. Bennett,
Our mind can really get messy. Somehow, it usually exaggerates every emotions and thoughts that we have particularly the negative ones.
Self-doubt is not new to us. We might have been battling it for decades now because it’s not easy to just avoid it or ignore it.
So for this blog, all I want is to share some words of encouragement that I repeat over and over again until I feel better. I hope that it will be able to help you as well.
1. Life is a game between me and myself and not with others.
I realized that one of the things why self-doubt arises is because we tend to compare our own abilities from others. Especially now that social media is there to slap us in the face and show us what we don’t have in our lives that others have.
I just want all of us to remember that most of the things in social media are what others want us to see and it is just a very short part of their day. Do not be deceived. I am a firm believer that nobody has a perfect life and that nobody in this world faces no problem at all, it’s just a matter of how we carry it. So instead of wasting too much time comparing ourselves to other people, we should think and focus on our own path instead. We can start cultivating ourselves, learn what we want to learn, follow our curiosity and just do it.
We have the power to be what we want to become.
2. I am me and that’s what makes me unique and wonderful.
We are special in our own ways and we don’t need to be somebody else. The thing is, we will never be someone else. We need to realize that we are not meant to be a replica.
Stop doubting yourself just because you don’t have the same talent or skills of other successful people. Each one of us is different and you have something within you, that is waiting to be seen and discovered.
We should learn to celebrate our uniqueness, hug ourselves when we make mistakes and we should never be too hard on ourselves when we fail.
All of us are beautiful, flaws and vulnerability included.
3. I will not be defeated by my failures.
There will be no easy way towards our dream life. Being successful is not a game of luck. It does not come as we pray for it and it is a series of failures and attempts. Of course I believe that prayer is powerful but we need to get our hands dirty. So when we feel like our dream is not for us, we should think of the people who stumbled and failed so many times but still managed to come back and push themselves harder. We should not compare ourselves to them but let them inspire us. If they had succeeded after all that hardships, why can’t we too?
Yes, we are not perfect and we will never be but this doesn’t mean that we are not powerful enough to succeed. We are not defined by how many times we fail but on how many times we can still move forward after those failures. Breathe and move on.
One more thing, I want you to remember that you don’t need to rush things.
We have our own timelines and all we can do is just trust and enjoy the process.
4. If I will not do it now, will I regret it later?
It’s easy to be defeated by self doubt when we think that we have a lot of time. It is easy to say “I am going to do it when I have enough resources already and when I have the right amount of knowledge because today I am not capable yet”. We keep this on repeat until we realize that there’s no right time and it might be too late.
Are you willing to live in a life full of “what if’s”?
5. I am in control.
We are in control of our emotions not the other way around. Go shush that little voice in our head and slay everything. We just need to believe in our own capabilities and let ourselves grow. Self-doubt is just something that our mind creates to convince us to stay in our comfort zone and as much as we love to just be on the safe zone, it will be tiresome as the time goes by.
Search the internet and you’ll be able to see a lot of famous people who battled self-doubt and succeeded.
You matter and you’ll never know what you are capable of if you always listen to that tiny voice in your head saying that “you can’t”.
Note that we can’t turn off the voice from within forever, some days it will pop up and tell us awful stuffs but remember that it will always be up to us. What we want to do and what we want to say will only be valid when we put action to it.
Before I end this blog, I just want you to know that you should not let self-doubt dim your light. And just to give you a heads-up, it will not be easy at first. Nothing worth it is easy. It will take a lot of practice in order to win against our negative mind but it’s not impossible and at the end it’s going to be worth it.
Remember that we all have something in us that is amazing and it will be a waste if we will not be able to share it to the world or to others. We will not let the that small voice ruin us.
We may never know what the future holds but all that we need is now. Let’s hold on to our dreams and do something about them. We should not let go of them instead we should let go of what’s holding us back.
